Twenty Years of Engineering, Delivered as Software
ASI was founded in 2005 to help asset owners, fleet managers and program managers get real insight into how their equipment performs. The work covers six disciplines: reliability, maintenance, supportability, engineering, training and logistics.
In plain terms, that means working out what fails and when, deciding which maintenance actually prevents it, making sure the parts and the people are there to do the job, and then training the team to run the whole thing without us. OptiAM is the software that came out of doing that for twenty years, for operations that cannot afford to guess.

Where the Method Was Proven
ASI was started in 2005 by John Kobelski and John Henson. Reliability-Centered Maintenance was developed for aviation because a missed failure grounds an aircraft, and almost every contract since has been in front of a customer who checks the work. Here is the short record.
- 2007 — First OEM contract: reliability and RCM analysis on the new H-1 aircraft variants for Bell Helicopter.
- 2010 — Won three of the four NAVAIR logistics contracts, as prime in Jacksonville and North Island and as a sub at Patuxent River.
- 2012 — First F-35 Joint Program Office support contract. A handful of people then, a team of more than 30 now.
- 2014 — RCM and condition monitoring for US Army hospital facilities, under the US Army Corps of Engineers. The same method, applied to buildings instead of aircraft.
- 2017 and 2018 — Won the recompetes on every one of the NAVAIR logistics contracts. Winning work is one thing. Keeping it when it goes back out to bid is the harder one.
- 2019 — First OptiAM contract, a Foreign Military Sales award supporting the Royal Saudi Naval Forces. The software goes to a customer outside the US for the first time.
- 2020 — Graduated to large business status in our primary category.
- 2021 and 2022 — Acquired Aspire Consulting, opening the UK and Europe, and TFD Global, expanding the analysis toolset.
- 2024 and 2025 — Awarded the NAVAIR R&M and System Safety Engineering contract, then the NAVAIR RCM recompete.
Why It Matters in a Plant, a Fleet or a Facility
The equipment changes. The problem does not. Something out there is going to fail, and you would rather find out before it does than after.
In a plant
When one machine stops, everything behind it stops with it. The job is knowing which ones are close to that, and getting to them first.
On a fleet
Things that move do not wear by the calendar. They wear by how hard they worked this week, and the schedule should follow that.
In a facility
Nobody thinks about the building until the heat quits or the power drops. Keeping that call from coming is the entire job.
The difference is that most maintenance teams do not have a reliability engineering department sitting behind them. OptiAM is how that thinking gets handed to a team that has to run the operation anyway.
